Pudsey Diamond Engineering was established in 1982 when Peter Diamond purchased a handful of engineering machines from Alan Pudsey, who operated a tiny machining shop from the basement of his house in Hamble, UK. Initially, our main products were Woodpole brackets supplied to electricity boards and councils in select parts of the country. Ever inquisitive, Peter not only manufactured but also personally delivered the products to gain deeper insight into the lighting industry. Along the way, he collaborated with many helpful lighting engineers who often struggled to obtain the necessary equipment to complete projects and maintain lighting fixtures.

Growth, Innovation, and Technological Advancement

It wasn’t long before the company outgrew its premises in Warsash, and relocated to Andover, UK, where we are now in our third factory on a 2-acre site boasting over 30,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Over nearly 40 years, the business has transformed from a simple jobbing shop into a multi-award-winning, efficient manufacturing base specialising in a wide range of exterior lighting equipment—from columns to luminaires and nearly everything in between.

Embracing cutting-edge technology, we utilise 3D design and printing for product components and prototyping. As the “go-to” company for solutions to challenging and complex problems, we hold numerous European and international patents, along with many registered designs for both market-ready products and those under development.
